Calgary
Calgary is the business capital of Alberta and the
oil capital of Canada. Located 90 minutes from the
mountains, enjoying generally benevolent if not bizarre
weather and clean fresh air in spite of our penchant
for SUV's and pickups, Calgary is a great place to
live. IF you have a good job, lots of money, and try
not to worry about the fast-approaching future.

Growth
This was our prediction...
Calgary is one of Canada's fastest growing cities.
Most people think fast growth is good - particularly
people who own or sell land and businesses or collect
taxes. Fast growth puts money in their pockets. As Calgary's
population closes in on the million mark, little attention
is paid to the underlying problems soon to balloon.
- The city is unprepared for the increase in criminal
activity
- Traffic is building faster than infrastructure
- Cheaply thrown together infrastructure is crumbling
- 'Petro-gyspies' have a short term view of life.
And this is what has happened...
2009 started off well with a shooting a day for the
first few weeks as rival "known gangs" (read: "known
but not stopped") fought it out on city streets and
in restaurants. Don't worry, though, only two innocent
bystanders were killed in the first weeks of January.
